Petr Krekshin

Krekshin, Petr Nikiforovich

 

Born 1684; died 1763. Author of memoirs on the time of Peter I, member of the Rus-sian dvorianstvo (nobility or gentry).

Krekshin collected manuscripts dealing with Russian history of the tenth through 18th centuries; the historians V. N. Tatishchev, I. N. Boltin, and M. M. Shcherbatov used these manu-scripts. In his lifetime his works circulated in manuscript form; they were first published after his death. In them Krekshin glorified Peter I in panegyric form.
