Born 1647 in Nordland; died 1707 in Alstahaug. Norwegian poet; private tutor. Chaplain and parish pastor.

Dass’ works were published posthumously. His narrative poem The Trumpet of Nordland (written 1678–99, published 1739) portrayed the life and customs of the Norwegian people, their work, and the severe nature of their native land. He was the author of the collection The Norwegian Valley Song (published 1696) and of religious songs. All of Dass’ works are closely related to folklore.
