Special Features:Pickett's Mill is one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields in
the nation. During the spring of 1864, Federal forces, while advancing
toward Atlanta, reached the vicinity of Pickett's Mill, where they attacked
Confederate troops. The Confederate victory delayed the Federal advance on
Atlanta for one week, but it resulted in more than 2,000 combined
casualties. Today, visitors can travel roads used by Union and
Confederate troops and see earthworks constructed by the soldiers.
