pilewort

(Not to be confused with old English “Pilewort”-Ranunculus ficaria- Lesser Celandine, a small yellow flower) Erechtites hieracifolia can grow up to 9 ft (3m) tall. Small white flowers wrapped in green. Whole plant is edible. Tea used as astringent and good for mucus membrane issues- lungs and digestive system, diarrhea, cystitis. It smells bad and tastes strong. Oil of fireweed was rubbed on hemorrhoids to “put out the fire”. Was taken internally for dysentery and as survival food.
