Plane-Table Board

 

(also planchette). (1) A part of a plane table, a square board having sides measuring between 40 and 60 cm in length. In plane-table surveying, a sketch of the terrain is drawn on a piece of paper attached to the board.

(2) A small board or piece of cardboard to which ruled paper and a compass are attached for exploratory surveying.
