Poirier, Richard
(1925– ) literary critic, educator, writer; born in Gloucester, Mass. A professor at Rutgers (1963) and author of studies of Henry James, Norman Mailer and Robert Frost, he cofounded the Library of America (1979), an ongoing and comprehensive published collection of American literary and historical works.
