Porter, (Geneva Grace) Gene Stratton
(?1863–1924) writer, photographer, illustrator; born in Wabash County, Ind. Born on a farm, she and her family moved to Wabash, Ind. (1874), where she continued her schooling until 1883. She married in 1886, and settled in Geneva, Ind. She was a nature photographer, illustrator, and writer of sentimental novels, incorporating nature lore, as in A Girl in the Limberlost (1909). She also wrote nonfiction nature books.
