Powerton Lake State Fish & Wildlife Area
Location:2 miles southwest of Pekin along Manito Road.
Activities:Fishing, hunting.
Special Features:Lake was built on the floodplain of the Illinois River in 1971 by
Commonwealth Edison Company as a cooling reservoir for a fossil-fuel
power plant. Approximately 60% of the area is open to waterfowl
hunting, and the rest is maintained as a waterfowl rest area.
