Project StoreX

Project StoreX

The original code name from Sun for the development of Java-based standards for storage services and management. Launched in 1999 as the Jiro platform and evolving to the Jini Community, the specifications provide standards for data services and management services. Areas covered include backup, remote mirroring and data sharing, plus serviceability, configurability, online diagnostics, and policy management. For more information, visit www.jini.org.

Sticking with its naming convention, Sun Microsystems Inc has wheeled out a first cut of its Project StoreX Java storage management APIs which will henceforth be know as Jiro.
The technology, code-named Project StoreX, works by creating a Java- based, common storage management platform that allows what Sun calls "management awareness" between applications.
