RMON probe
A network device that analyzes RMON information. The probe can monitor traffic and set an alarm when a certain condition occurs. It can be used to periodically audit traffic as well as gather statistics that are sent to the management console. RMON probes are often placed permanently into networks. The agents can be
RMON probes or software or hardware network analyzers.
The GAM is the central accounting database which receives all the information from the Collectors, who gather raw data from strategic points on the network, in this case from
RMON probes. This data is then converted into a standard format and forwarded to the GAM for further processing.

RMON probes and web-based tools for easy switch configuration access.
