Reactance Transistor

 

a device consisting of a transistor connected to a phase-shifting circuit; it has a controlled input reactance. The reactance transistor is a variation on the reactance tube. It has a number of disadvantages, such as instability of its parameters with temperature changes and a current drain in the control-voltage circuit, which have limited its applications. In superhigh-frequency radio equipment, the function of a reactance transistor is more effectively fulfilled by a varicap (varactor).
