In unison, the 'sulfolane' process entails the recovery of "high purity benzene and toluene from
reformate," while the Merox process "treats the naphtha feedstock to meet product specifications; while distillate unionfining deals with hydrotreating process that removes contaminants from feed streams.
In 2011, the Secretary of State imposed sanctions under the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (ISA) on Venezuela's state oil company (PDVSA) for delivering at least three cargoes of
reformate, a blending component for gasoline, to Iran between December 2010 and March 2011.

reformate, diesel oil, fuel oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for local and export markets.

A new extraction unit will process yearly 1,300 tonnes of
reformate. Aromatics debottlenecking will produce 460,000 tonnes per year of paraxylene and 160,000 tonnes per year of benzene.
The upgraded project is to increase the capacity at the refinery to 120,000 barrels per day, facilitate operation of the plant at full capacity and to produce naphtha
reformate.

reformate was booked from Jubail to Iran.
