Rhynchocephalia

[‚riŋ·kō·sə′fāl·yə]
(vertebrate zoology)
An order of lepidosaurian reptiles represented by a single living species, Sphenodon punctatus, and characterized by a diapsid skull, teeth fused to the edges of the jaws, and an overhanging beak formed by the upper jaw.
