Size: 2,722 acres.
Established: Established on January 22, 1964. Owned and administered by a United States-Canadian commission.
Location:On the southern end of Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada. It is connected by the FDR International Bridge to Lubec on the easternmost tip of the state of Maine. Lubec is reached by ME 189 from US 1. During the summer, access to Campobello is also available by car ferry from Deer Island, New Brunswick.
Facilities:Visitor center, theater, rest rooms.
Activities:Guided and self-guided tours, birdwatching, hiking, sea kayaking, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Park is a joint memorial by Canada and the United States and a symbol of the close relationship between the two countries. Here are the summer home and the grounds where President Franklin D. Roosevelt vacationed, the waters where he sailed, and the woods, bogs, and beaches where he tramped and relaxed. He was stricken by poliomyelitis here in his summer home at the age of 39.
