Rosebud Battlefield State Park
Location:25 miles east of Crow Agency on US 212, 20 miles south on Secondary 314, then 3 miles west on county road.
Facilities:Picnic area, vault toilet, interpretive displays.
Activities:Hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing.
Special Features:Battlefield is the site of the June 17, 1876 battle in which the Sioux and
Cheyenne fought General George Crook's soldiers. This was one of the
most intense battles ever waged between Native Americans and the US
Army, setting the stage for the Battle of Little Bighorn that would
occur eight days later.
