arugula

Also called garden rocket, roquette, rocket-salad, Oruga, Rocketsalad, rocket-gentle; Raukenkohl (German); rouquelle (French); rucola (Italian) A very alkaline high protein green leafy lettuce with a spicy, peppery flavor, that neutralizes acidic waste and cleans the blood and lymph system. Because of it’s high sulfur content, arugula is great for skin and purifying the liver. Great with olive oil and apple cider vinegar. Anti-cancer, vitamins A,C,K,Folic acid. Small whitish-yellow blossoms with dark centers and dark purple streaks with a peppery flavor much like the leaves, which resemble radish leaves in both appearance and taste.

We bought rucola (a wild type of arugula), firm and dusky winter tomatoes with which to dress our bread, and a very slim, purplish type of asparagus, which I later learned was the tender spring growth of a thorny hedge plant native to the island.

AIt's just another name for rocket, as is rucola, so if you see either of them in restaurants you know it's rocket you're getting.
It's a toss-up between that and the arugula, or rucola. These "rocket greens" fill the mouth with peppery freshness, and the components--shaved fennel, an earthy fresh goat cheese and a hint of citrus--make for a revitalizing salad that stimulates the appetite for things to come.
