Ruml, Beardsley
(1894–1960) public official; born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At R. H. Macy and Co. (1934–49, chairman 1945–49) and the New York's Federal Reserve Bank (director 1937–47, chairman 1941–47), and as a New Deal adviser, Ruml was an "idea man." He devised the federal tax withholding system (1943) and was instrumental in establishing the International Monetary Fund (1944).
