Russian Fort Elizabeth State Historical Park
Location:Off Kaumualii Highway (Highway 50), on the east bank of Waimea rivermouth.
Facilities:Historic fort, walking path.
Activities:Self-guided tours.
Special Features:This fort built of boulders stands as a reminder of Russia's
short-lived adventure (1815-1817) in the Hawaiian Islands. The massive
stacked stone walls of the fort are a mix of Hawaiian construction and
Russian fort design.
