The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR analyses, together with ESI-MS data and comparison with relevant literature data: isoquercetin (1), (21) rutin (2), (21,22) afzelin (3), (23) astragalin (4), (21,24) isorhamnetin 3-O-[beta]-glucopyranoside (5), (25) nicotiflorin (6), (21,22) and narcissoside (7).
Close location of rutin to astragalin plots and ferulic acid to sinapic acid, indicates on the positive correlation between these factors (Figure 1).

Rutin hydrate (Sigma-Aldrich) was dissolved in methanol and diluted with water to give four separate standards containing 0.1, 0.125, 0.25 and 0.5 [micro]g in 10 [micro]L.
By comparing this chromatogram with the standard curve of the phenolic compounds they were identified as chlorogenic acid, quercetin, morin, rutin, phloroglucinol and hydro benzoic acid these compound with retention time of 6.36, 10.26, 12.80, 22.77, 35.53 and 36.23 respectively.
Previous studies have reported abundant phenolic compounds in Sophorae Radix, such as rutin, quercetin, kaempferol, kurarinol, and maackiain [13, 28-30].
Thus, this study was carried out to determine the adsorption characteristics between organic acids (octanoic acid and hexanoic acid) and phenolic compounds (rutin, scopoletin, and quercetin) onto a weakly basic ion exchange resin using a model system.
