SNOMED CT

(Systematized Nomenclature Of MEDicine Clinical Terms) A comprehensive classification of medical clinical terminology. Administered by the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO), SNOMED CT contains more than 300,000 numerical medical designations used worldwide by physicians and providers to exchange health information. SNOMED International is a not-for-profit organization that owns and develops SNOMED CT, theworld's most comprehensive healthcare terminology product.
The group is currently working with data elements related to CLABSI (peripheral and central lines), with a goal of coding them to LOINC and SNOMED CT in 2017.
Once documentation screens are created that have SNOMED CT coded summative assessment, process, and outcome indicators for all specified CCTM activities, then documentation data sets can be mined to see which types of providers (identified through coding of license type) are doing which assessments and processes, and the outcomes achieved.
