Saint Andrews State Park
Location:3 miles east of Panama City Beach, off SR 392 (Thomas Drive).
Facilities:176 full-facility campsites, youth/group primitive camping area,
bathhouses, beach, showers, picnic areas and pavilions, playgrounds,
food and other concessions, canoe/kayak rental, boat ramp, 2 fishing
piers and jetties, hiking trails, visitor center, restroom.
Activities:Camping, boating, canoeing/kayaking, saltwater fishing, swimming,
snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, hiking, bicycling, boat excursions,
living history demonstrations, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Park is located on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and Grand
Lagoon. During World War II it was part of a military reservation, and
circular cannon platforms are still in place near the jetties on the
beach. A parcel of the park that remains undeveloped is Shell Island, a
barrier island just across the ship's channel from the mainland.
Shuttle boats run to the island during the spring and summer.
