Sartang

 

a river in the Yakut ASSR, the right fork of the Iana. The Sartang is 620 km long and drains an area of 17,800 sq km. It originates in Lake Siskiuele on the northern slope of the Verkhoiansk Range and flows in a generally northerly direction over the Iana Plateau. Fed by snow and rain, the river has high water from June to early September. The mean flow rate 68 km from the mouth is 47.4 cu m per sec. The Sartang begins to freeze in early October and by late November is completely frozen to the bottom; the ice breaks up in late May.
