Shark disk
(1) A family of high-end storage servers from IBM released in the late 1990s. The IBM DS8000 series superseded the Shark line. See ESS.
(2) A removable disk drive from Avatar Peripherals, Inc., Milpitas, CA, designed for the mobile market. Its compact 250MB cartridges never became popular, and the company closed in 1998. See magnetic disk.
