Skadovsk

 

(until 1961, an urban-type settlement), a city and administrative center of Skadovsk Raion, Kherson Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. A port on the Black Sea, Skadovsk is located 82 km southeast of Kherson and 52 km from the Kalanchak railroad station on the Kherson-Dzhankoi line. Population, 18,000 (1975). Skadovsk has food-processing enterprises and a building-materials plant. The city is also a children’s seaside climatic health resort, with a wide beach of fine sand, a house of rest, and health institutions for children. The season lasts from May through October.
