Slovenský Kras

a limestone plateau in Slovakia (Czechoslovak Socialist Republic) and Hungary, where it is called Aggtelek. The plateau, which is south of the Ore Mountains, has elevations to 851 m (Mount Plešivec). The valley of the Slaná River and its tributaries divides the region into distinct plateau-like landforms. Karst forms of relief are typical: basins, dolines, sinkholes, and underground chasms and caves with rivers. Slovenský Kras has one of the largest karst caves in Europe—the Baradla-Domica (Aggeltek).
