RealPC

An earlier DOS emulator for the Mac from FWB Software, Newark, CA. Known earlier as SoftPC and originally developed by Insignia Solutions, which was acquired by Smith Micro Software in 2007, RealPC was used to run DOS games and other DOS applications on the Mac. It was discontinued in 2003. See Virtual PC for Mac.

Around that time one of Barrow's specialists attended a conference and watched a demonstration of Mountain View, Calif.-based Insignia Solution's SoftPC program, a DOS-platform emulation program for Macintosh computers.
Guilford County purchased 16 Mac computers for each of eight computer labs; they also bought 30 copies of SoftPC for the first two labs.
Now she has access to three platforms with just one computer and SoftPC.
Barrow describes the benefits of SoftPC as being two-fold.
Thanks to SoftPC, communication lines remain open; users can move information between the existing IBM computers and the new Macs.
