Sognafjorden

an inlet of the North Sea at the southwestern coast of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Norway’s largest fjord, Sognafjorden is 204 km long and 1.5 to 6 km wide and reaches a maximum depth of 1,208 m. Steep and rocky shores rise to a maximum elevation of 1,500 m. The fjord forms lateral channels, some with descending glaciers. Tides are semidiurnal, with a range of 1.5 m. The ports of Høyanger and Leikanner are situated on the fjord.
