Soudan Underground Mine State Park

Location:Take US 169 to Soudan and follow the signs.
Facilities:Picnic area (é), flush toilets (é), hiking trails (5 miles), self-guided trail (0.5 miles), boat access, visitor center (é), historic site, interpretive exhibits, gift shop.
Activities:Lake fishing, boating, hiking, mine tours, nature programs, wildlife observation, birding.
Special Features:For the hour-and-a-half tour, visitors don hard hats and descend by elevator a half-mile down into the mine, then board a rail car to see the deepest areas. Above ground, visitors can explore the dry house, drill shop, crusher house, and engine house and walk the boardwalk past one of the deepest open mine pits.
