Location:In South Orange, northwest of Newark.
Facilities:Picnic areas, ponds, hiking and bridle trails (19 miles total), lookout points, wildlife preserve, arena, zoo, sports areas.
Activities:Fishing, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, archery, softball, indoor ice skating.
Special Features:Portions of the park was designed by famed landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and John Charles Olmsted. The park is home to the Turtle Back Zoo, which features more than 200 species of animals.

The site is directly adjacent to South Mountain Reservation, a 2,000-acre park featuring Turtleback Zoo, indoor ice-skating rinks, walking trails, paddle boating, playgrounds and miniature golf, as well as a short drive to Essex Green Shopping Center and Montclair Township.
Built in the late 1920s, the Castle is a classic ArtDeco-era building with hand-painted tile in the lobby, vaulted ceilings, large windows with abundant natural light and spectacular views of New York City and South Mountain Reservation.
