South Toledo Bend State Park
Location:16 miles west of Anacoco, on LA 191, in Sabine Parish, toward the southern end of Toledo Bend Reservoir.
Facilities:12 premium campsites (4 pull-through sites, 9 prime location sites, all
with water and electrical hookup), 42 improved campsites, 5 tent
campsites (no hookups), comfort stations, 19 cabins (2 @di), picnic
area, 3,000-foot surfaced nature trail, boat launch, visitor center
with exhibits on local animal and plant life, observation deck.
Activities:Camping, fishing, boating, hiking, bicycling, bird watching, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Park is located on several small bluffs that extend over and into the
South Toledo Reservoir, offering scenic, waterfront views to visitors.
The area is a common nesting ground for bald eagles, which feed from
the reservoir's plentiful supply of fish. The reservoir also is a
nationally recognized destination for bass fishing tournaments.
