Spodography

 

a method used to obtain histological preparations (spodograms) by the action of high temperature on a fresh or fixed section or thin film of tissue. During spodography organic matter is completely destroyed, but the quantity and arrangement of mineral components is preserved. The process is used in histochemistry and cytochemistry to detect and analyze inorganic substances in tissues.
