Starved Rock State Park
Location:On the south side of the Illinois River, 1 mile south of Utica, and midway between the cities of LaSalle-Peru and Ottawa.

Special Features:The backdrop for activities at Starved Rock is 18 canyons formed by
glacial meltwater and stream erosion that slice through tree-covered
sandstone bluffs. The end-of-winter thaw and spring rains combine to
create waterfalls at the heads of all 18 canyons, and vertical walls of
moss-covered stone create a setting of natural geographic beauty
uncommon in Illinois.
