Steam-and-Water Mixture

The following article is from The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1979). It might be outdated or ideologically biased.

Steam-and-Water Mixture

a mixture of steam and water that forms as water boils in steam boilers (generating boiler waterwalls) and heat-exchange devices, such as evaporators. The density of steam-and-water mixtures is lower than that of water, and this ensures natural circulation in boiler units.
