Stoke

a unit of kinematic viscosity in the centimeter-gram-second system of units. A stoke is equal to the kinematic viscosity present when the dynamic viscosity of a medium with a density of 1 g/cm3 is equal to 1 poise. Named in honor of G. G. Stokes, the stoke is abbreviated St; 1 St = 1 cm2/sec = 10–4m2/sec. In practice, a unit 100 times less than the stoke, the centistoke, is often used.
