Stringed Instrument, Bowed

 

a musical instrument in which the sound is produced by stretched strings that vibrate from the friction of a bow drawn across them. Bowed stringed instruments include the viols, violin, viola, double bass, cello, kemancha, gidzhak, and kobyz.
