Sudorifics

a group of medicinal substances used to intensify sweating, for the purpose of increasing the body’s emission of heat and excretion of water, salts, and toxins.

Usually, antipyretics, such as sodium salicylate or acetylsali-cylic acid, are used as sudorifics. Often a brew of certain plants, including linden, raspberry, marjoram, or coltsfoot, is used as a sudorific, either individually or as ingredients of sudorific teas. A sudorific effect may also be obtained by drinking substantial quantities of warm fluids, applying moist wrappings, or taking baths.
