Suicidal behaviours, according to the study, are global public health issues and
suicidal ideation is the first step on the suicide 'pathway' and an important area of potential intervention for primary prevention of both deliberate self-harm and suicide.
There are few studies on
suicidal ideation in developing countries.
Taken together, these points suggest it is possible the PHQ-2 may fail to identify numerous patients with
suicidal ideation.
Based on this, the aim of this research is to analyse the prevalence of
suicidal ideation and suicide attempts in a sample of 151 users of the Gender Identity Treatment Unit (UTIGPA), and to examine whether there are significantly significant differences in terms of sex/gender or psychiatric morbidity .
Variable
suicidal ideation was extracted from SRQ-20, being identified through the affirmative answer to question "Has the thought of ending your life been on your mind?".
Suicidal ideation was found in 38 (25.33%) of schizophrenic patients.
In 2015, approximately 20% of students in grades 8, 10, and 12 who participated in the Utah Prevention Needs Assessment survey reported
suicidal ideation and 8.2% reported having attempted suicide during the past 12 months (Table 1).
The combination of these two identities may add an additional level of stress leading to greater risk of
suicidal ideation due to repeated exposure to victimization.
Although knowledge about the prevalence of suicidal attempts is important,
suicidal ideation is more relevant and significant to understand.
Suicidal Ideation Scale (SIS) was developed to evaluate the intensity of
suicidal ideation in an individual, individual's attitudes towards these thoughts, degree of intention to realize this
suicidal ideation and factors determining the intention and determination to implement these plans.
Researchers report that the mother of ASD children seems more vulnerable to psychological problems compared to mothers of ID children and they are found to be hospitalised for a longer period of time for the treatment of psychiatric disorders.13 According to a study, they are so burdened that they are 40-200% more likely to die.14 Further, there is little or no focus on the health of mothers of ASD children and their
suicidal ideation in literature.
Grunebaum et al (3) evaluated the acute effect of adjunctive subanesthetic IV ketamine on clinically significant
suicidal ideation in patients with MDD, with a comparison arm that received an infusion of midazolam.
