During intubation, the transducer (High frequency 10-15 MHz linear probe, Mindray Machine) was placed just above the
suprasternal notch for transtracheal real-time (Transverse view) ultrasonography for direct visualisation of passage of the endotracheal tube into the trachea or oesophagus.
According to research done by Shulman the ideal
suprasternal notch to nipple distance was determined by (0.120 x height of the patient in cm) -2.782.
A standard sternal saw is used to open the sternum vertically, starting at the midline of the
suprasternal notch and finishing at the horizontal limb of the inverted T (Figure 1).
Swellings on front of chest wall and
suprasternal notch were unusual sites probably extension from pulmonary Tuberculosis.
The distances from the carotid sampling site to the
suprasternal notch and from the
suprasternal notch to the femoral artery were measured.
The usual sites of these lesions are
suprasternal notch, presternal area, the neck and scapula.
Incidentally, her globus hystericus was immediately and permanently relieved with one treatment of neural therapy using procaine and Spascupreel from Heel in intradermal wheels (quaddles) to her
suprasternal notch and in a ring around her neck and over the dorsal processes of the associated cervical vertebrae.
The landmarks to be identified include the thyroid notch, cricoid cartilage and
suprasternal notch. The incision site is marked halfway between the cricoid cartilage and
suprasternal notch.
