Theobald, Robert Alfred

Theobald, Robert Alfred

(1884–1957) naval officer; born in San Francisco. He engaged in heated debates with Captain Richmond K. Turner at the Naval War College (1936–38) regarding the relative importance of naval and air forces. He commanded the North Pacific Force (1942–43). He criticized President Franklin Roosevelt in The Final Secret of Pearl Harbor (1954).
