Thonburi

 

a city in the Bangkok conurbation in southern Thailand. Situated on the right bank of the Chao Phraya River, Thonburi is an industrial center and a transport junction. Industrial establishments include sawmills and rice mills. A naval arsenal is also located in the city.

During the reign of Taksin (1768–82), Thonburi was the capital of Siam (Thailand).
