Special Features:The northern 2.3 million acres of the refuge are designated as the Togiak Wilderness Area, constituting the second larges contiguous wilderness area withing the National Wildlife Refuge System.
Habitats: 4.7 million acres of mountains, tundra, forests, wetlands, lakes, rivers, streams, and coastal cliffs and beaches.
Access: Open 24 hours; access is mainly by air.
Wild life: Ptarmigan, moose, caribou, wolverines, brown bear, Pacific walrus, Steller's sea lions, harbor and spotted seals, chinook, sockeye, northern pintail, northern hawk owl, Steller's sea eagle, loons, grebes, geese, swans, teals, and eiders.
