[′tȯr·shən·əl vī′brā·shən]
(mechanics)
A periodic motion of a shaft in which the shaft is twisted about its axis first in one direction and then in the other; this motion may be superimposed on rotational or other motion.

The harmonic damper is also known as harmonic balancer as it assists in balancing the engine and reduces the torsional vibration in the crankshaft of the internal combustion engines.
Users can perform torsional vibration measurements autonomously with the RASdelta data logger without having to rely on a connected computer.
Vispiron Rotec is already known for its torsional vibration analysis technology.
This module's building blocks include engine mount, crankshaft, bearing, flywheel, torsional vibration damper and balancing shaft.
Only the fifth order mode showed torsional vibration. The second, fifth and sixth order modes indicated that the vibration of pre-stressed concrete beam was severe mainly on the top.
Two different combinations for [C.sub.e1] and [C.sub.e2] are selected for preload engaging: one is the high torsional vibration excitation [C.sub.e2] with respect to preload [C.sub.e1], in which the amplitude of [C.sub.e2] is assigned to 6 Nm, 8 Nm, and 10 Nm, respectively, and [C.sub.e1] is set to 3.34 Nm; the other is low torsional vibration excitation [C.sub.e2] with respect to preload [C.sub.e1], in which the amplitude of [C.sub.e2] is assigned to 6 Nm, 8 Nm, and 10 Nm respectively, and [C.sub.e1] is set to 16.8 Nm.
Physical environments like fluid flow or biological tissue can be modelled as a viscoelastic medium, which has damping and elastic characteristics, and the effect to the torsional vibration of CNT is a very interesting topic for researchers.
As the guideline developed, a need for better reciprocating compressor torsional vibration analysis guidelines was also identified.
