Travis, Walter (John)

(1862–1927) golfer; born in Malden, Victoria, Australia. One of golf's pioneers, he immigrated to the United States at age 23 and won three U.S. Amateur titles (1900–01, 1903). He founded American Golfer magazine in 1905.
