Tsushima Current

That part of the Kuroshio Current flowing northeastward through the Korea Strait and along the Japanese coast in the Sea of Japan.

Tsushima Current

 

a warm current flowing from south to north in the eastern Sea of Japan, a branch of the Kuroshio Current. Moving at a velocity of 0.5–1 km per hour, the Tsushima Current raises the temperature in the eastern part of the Sea of Japan, compared to the western part, by 5–6°C in winter and 1–3°C in summer. The current plays an important role in the development of the fauna and flora in the Sea of Japan.
