UCAID
(University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development, Washington, DC, www.ucaid.edu) The non-profit consortium founded in 1997 that began the development of Internet2. It started with 34 universities in late 1996 and grew so large in one year (more than 100 universities and 20 companies) that it became necessary to formalize its administration and coordination.
