Udokan

 

a mountain range in Chita Oblast, RSFSR, and the Yakut ASSR. Measuring about 255 km in length, the Udokan Range rises to an elevation of 2,515 m. It is composed of gneisses and schists and bears traces of ancient glaciation. Up to elevations of 1,200 m, the range is covered with larch forests, and higher up, with mountain and tundra vegetation. The range is the site of the Udokan Ore Region, with extensive copper-ore deposits.

Janice Lake is a sedimentary hosted copper project located approximately 55 km southeast of Key Lake, in north-central Saskatchewan with geologic features that are analogous to the giant Udokan development project in Russia.
In December 2015 the company announced the completion of its restructuring, in which Baikal Mining Company LLC, which holds the licence for the Udokan copper project, was spun off to the shareholder level of Metalloinvest.
Among the negatives we note the election of Rostech's Sergei Chemezov (nominated by Metalloinvest), who is hardly independent given Rostech's affiliation with Metalloinvest via the Udokan project.
Thus, in Russia, great attention is being paid to new deposits in Siberia, especially the Udokan deposit, which is now scheduled for early development although it was not previously planned to be brought into operation before the year 2010.
