Location:8 miles southeast of Granite Falls on State Highway 67.
Facilities:34 drive-in campsites (14 with electrical hookups), 3 walk-in campsites, showers (é), flush toilets (é), 33 horsemen's campsites, 2 tipis, picnic area, picnic shelter, playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, hiking trails (18 miles), self-guided trail (2 miles), horse trails (16 miles), ski trails (2 miles), snowmobile trails (14 miles), sliding hill, warming house, snowshoe rentals, canoe rentals, boat launch, visitor center, interpretive exhibits, historic site, gift shop.
Activities:Camping, river fishing, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, snow sledding, snowshoeing, birdwatching.
Special Features:An 1851 treaty moved the Dakota Indians from Iowa and Minnesota to a reservation 20 miles wide along the Minnesota River Valley, and the Upper Sioux, or Yellow Medicine, Agency was established to administer the terms of the treaty. In the summer of 1862, the Agency was destroyed during the US-Dakota Conflict. The park exists today to preserve the old agency site, and to provide recreational opportunities in the scenic Minnesota River Valley.
