Ursol

 

any of several aromatic amines that are used in dyeing furs and hair. By means of oxidizing ursols, quinone imine dyes are derived. As with other aromatic amines, ursols penetrate the body through the respiratory tract and the skin. In an individual who is highly sensitive to ursols, allergic reactions may develop in the form of a cold or bronchial asthma. These reactions may be prevented by mechanizing the manufacture of ursols, by regularly examining persons who work with ursols, and by transferring persons highly sensitive to ursols to work that involves no contact with them.
