Ust’-Barguzin

 

an urban-type settlement in Barguzin Raion, Buriat ASSR. It has a landing on the left bank of the Barguzin River at the point where the river empties into Barguzin Bay of Lake Baikal. Located 230 km northeast of the Tataurovo railroad station on the Irkutsk-Ulan-Ude line, Ust’-Barguzin is a transit transfer base for freight in transit for the Baikal-Amur Main Line. Industry includes a logging and timber distribution establishment, a meat-packing plant, and a fish cannery.
