It is found in nature as the mineral valentinite (rhombic) and senarmontite (octahedral).
All right--hidden away in a little white box at the stand of Jordi Fabre (www.fabreminerals.com) was a specimen of valentinite, mined sometime around 1988 in the Tatasi mine, San Vicente, Chichas Sur, Potosi, Bolivia.

Brian also had about 25 thumbnails and miniatures of massive gray galena matrix on which perch sharp, silky white, wedge-shaped crystals of valentinite to 1.5 cm, found a year ago at the Colavi mine, Potosi.
Chinese antimony deposits of the Wuling type generally contain stibnite as the main ore mineral (with stibiconite and valentinite in the oxidized zone), plus quartz, barite and calcite.
The excellent valentinite crystals found at several Bolivian mines, and even the Lomitas mimetite and austinite, are hydrothermal rather than secondary oxides!
From the Colavi mine, Comelio Saavedra Province, Potosi Department, there are a few 3 to 5-cm metallic gray matrix specimens with small vugs containing sharp, wedge-shaped, glassy transparent crystals of valentinite to 1 cm.
Associated minerals include cerussite, anglesite, realgar, barite, galena, mimetite, smithsonite, valentinite and bindheimite.
